HOW MASITINIB ACTS ON THE DISEASE

Regulating the immune system’s “clean-up” process

A normal number of mast cells and/or microglia allows the waste resulting from the activity of our immune system to be properly cleared.

An abnormally high number of mast cells and/or microglia prevents the waste resulting from the activity of our immune system from being properly cleared… and creates disorder: inflammation spreads throughout the system, like dust building up when the cleaning is no longer done.

Illustration of the regulation of mast cells and microglia by masitinib
From balance to disorder, then regulation.

Masitinib targets mast cells and microglia. The hypothesis under evaluation in phase 3 is that, by reducing the excess of these cells, it slows disease progression.
